- There is a faulty door lock
- Faulty hinges
Read through this guide to resolve this issue.
Child lock has been activated
If the dishwasher door is not opening and the control panel is unresponsive, this may be caused by the child lock which you will need to deactivate. For more information on how to do this, click here.
Broken door latch
If the door latch on your appliance is damaged, your dishwasher will fail to start its cycle. The latch allows the door to stay closed and prevent water from leaking out of the appliance during the programme. We recommend booking a service engineer, who will rectify the problem. We do not recommend replacing the door latch yourself due to safety concerns.
Faulty door lock
If the appliance door is not opening, the problem could be caused by a faulty door lock. You can check this by inspecting if the door closes correctly against the latch. The latch should engage into the door’s micro switch and if it does not, this means that the fault is most likely with the door lock. We recommend booking a service engineer, to rectify the problem. Due to safety concerns, we do not recommend replacing the door lock on your own.
Door hinges
The hinges are essential for the effective operation of a dishwasher. Unfortunately, they can often be the reason why your dishwasher door does not open or close properly. You can check the door hinges by following the steps below:
1. Inspect the door hinges for any visible damage by opening the door as far as it would go.
2. Examine if your door has lost its ability to swing freely.
If after carrying out the above checks you conclude that your dishwasher hinges are damaged, don’t worry. This is a fault which can easily be resolved by one of our service engineers. Due to safety concerns, we do not recommend replacing the door hinges on your own. To book a repair, click here.
