If you find your coffee is being dispensed slowly, or even trickles to a complete stop, there’s no need to worry! Several reasons can cause this, yet all of them are quick and easy to resolve.
Coffee is too fine
If your coffee is pre-ground, it could be too fine for the coffee machine. This will also result in your coffee tasting very bitter, or even clog up your machine.
Solution:
Use coffee that is less fine, or adjust your grinding level to a coarser setting. This will prevent the coffee from being ground too fine, and your volume should return to normal.
Eliminate limescale
Limescale build-up in your appliance occurs when hard water leaves behind mineral deposits, which mostly consist of calcium carbonate. Limescale can corrode the inside of your machine, cause blockages and harbour bacteria.
Solution:
To remove heavy build-up of limescale, you should descale your machine, and continue to do so regularly in the future as a preventative measure. Follow our descaling guide to see how.
Brewing unit needs cleaning
If the brewing unit is soiled, it could cause your coffee to trickle slowly or even stop. If your personally selected volume isn’t being reached, try cleaning the brewing unit.
You can follow our guide to cleaning the brewing unit to see how to do this.
