Milk is a necessary ingredient for many coffees we love from the flat white, to an iced latte. However, whether its oat, dairy or almond, milk can cause issues for you and your appliance. If you let milk residue build up inside your coffee machine, it can go rancid and develop sour smells and blockages. Milk can also go stale and provide a breeding ground for harmful bacteria.
It’s important that you properly clean and maintain all elements of the milk system, such as the piping to the outlet, and not just the milk container as residue can build-up anywhere.
Cleaning the milk system
Cleaning the milk system is a very straightforward process that should be done weekly, or as required. The milk system is automatically cleaned with a short burst of steam after preparing a drink containing milk. However, for a more thorough clean, you can rinse the milk system with water.

6. Place an empty glass under the beverage outlet.
7. Press [ Play button ].
8. The milk system will now be rinsed with water.
9. Empty the glass then select rain drop icon again to exit the programme.
Cleaning the milk container
It is also important for hygienic reasons that the milk container is cleaned regularly, to prevent growth of harmful germs and bacteria. Only the individual elements of the lid are dishwasher safe, so use a gentle cloth and a detergent solution, to clean the stainless steel by hand.
