When your Bosch tumble dryer has detected a blockage in the filter or heat exchanger, it will display an E01 error. Luckily, this is something that can easily be resolved, and the below information will guide you through the simple fix.
Clean the fluff filter
The E01 error code is likely a result of a blockage in the filter area, which causes the appliance to overheat. To resolve the problem, clean the filter area thoroughly by following the step by step instructions given below:
1. Open the dryer door and locate the filter (check the door area).
2. Pull out the two-part fluff filter.
3. Wipe around the filter area using a cloth to remove any residual fluff.
4. Pull apart the two-part filter.
5. Open both filters and remove the fluff with a cloth.
6. Rinse away any remaining fluff under running water.
7. Dry the filters with a cloth or paper towel.
8. Re-assemble the filter.
9. Reinsert the two-part filter back into position.

Clean the heat exchanger
Once you have cleaned around the filter area, be sure to also clean the heat exchanger as lint and fluff build up can negatively effect the tumble dryer’s ability to remove moisture from the air and your laundry due to the blockage.
1. Allow the dryer to cool down and place an absorbent cloth beneath the maintenance flap. Please note that residual water may leak out.
2. Open the maintenance flap fully.
3. Turn both levers towards each other.
4. Remove the top cap from the heat exchanger.
5. Remove the heat exchanger unit.
6. Flush water through the heat exchanger from all sides to completely remove residual fluff. You may wish to do this under running water. Please only use water to clean the heat exchanger, and do not use any hard objects or objects with sharp edges to remove fluff.
7. Remove all fluff from the seals on the dryer and on the heat exchanger.
8. Allow the water to drip off.
9. First insert the heat exchanger and then fit the heat exchanger’s top cap in place.
10. Turn both locking levers back and close the maintenance flap until it locks into place.
11. Close the maintenance flap and press on it until you feel it click into place.
