When the appliance is operating, the pump and compressor will generate noise. This is normal and does not indicate that the appliance is malfunctioning. However, if the noise does sound concerning, the list below could provide an indication of why your tumble dryer may be behaving in such way.
Loud noises
If the appliance produces loud noises, this could be due to wear of the drive belt, which wraps around the drum and the drive motor. In this case, we recommend booking an engineer visit to have the appliance inspected and the fault professionally addressed.
Grinding noises
A grinding noise could be the result of a metal object being present in the drum. Check for a coin, key or any other metal object that could have landed inside the drum.
Another likely explanation for a grinding noise is that the wheel rollers have been worn out. These are small metal wheels attached to the exterior side of the drum that support the spinning movement of the dryer. If the rollers have been worn, we recommend booking an engineer visit.
Vibrating noises
On a condenser dryer the fan can become loose or out of balance. In this case you will need to tighten or replace it. For safety reasons, we recommend seeking technical assistance to help resolve this issue.
