Unblocking the dishwasher pump or impeller
If your dishwasher pump is blocked, waste water cannot be pumped out of the appliance. To resolve this issue, follow the instructions below or in the video.
1. Take out the bottom basket.
2. Remove the filter unit by carefully twisting the cylindrical top and lift away to access the pump.
3. We recommend using protective gloves when removing the residual water from the pump area. Use a soft sponge to soak up the water and gradually ladle it out of the appliance.
4. When you have removed the water, it is essential that you use protective gloves when placing your fingers in the pump area. This is because broken glass fragments can collect here.
5. Using a tea spoon, prise off the pump cover.
6. Then grip the cover by the lug and pull it upwards until it resists.
7. Then pull forwards. You can check your instruction manual for further information.
8. Check the pump for any foreign objects and remove any deposits.
9. Ensure that the pump impeller can move freely.
10. Replace the pump cover and make sure that it engages correctly back into position until it clicks. The pump covers on some models can be removed by using a manual screwdriver (never use an electric one). Any obstructions should then be removed in the same way.
11. Place the filter back into position, ensuring the arrows align.
12. Replace the basket and your dishwasher is ready for use.
In the unlikely event that your dishwasher impeller has been damaged, please book an engineer visit to have the faulty part replaced.
