A guide to each type of coffee.
What is filter coffee?
Filter coffee is any type of coffee that is brewed through a filter. Automatic coffee machines make filtered coffee by passing water through coffee grounds which sit on a filter. The filter stops any grounds from entering the drink. Filter coffee has a richer flavour and aroma than instant coffee.
What is instant coffee?
Instant coffee is made from processed coffee beans. Water and other elements of the beans are removed, so just a powder is left over. You can combine this with boiling water to make a coffee. Instant coffee is cheaper, and has a longer shelf life than other varieties, but doesn't give that coffee-shop quality coffee that coffee lovers want.
What is regular coffee?
Regular coffee is made by pouring boiling water over ground coffee beans. Some people like to drink it plain, but some add milk and sugar, to make it sweeter and less bitter.
