The drip tray behind the fridge catches the defrosted ice from leaking outside and hence, it is one of the most useful parts in any fridge. It is important to clean the drip tray every now and then, to remove any blockage in the drain and ensure that water does not build-up inside or outside of the appliance. Cleaning dip tray is very easy and takes only few minutes of your time. If you don’t know how to do it, our step by step guide below will help you through the process.
Step by step guide
1. Locate the drip tray. If you need help, check your appliance's instruction manual.
2. Disconnect the power supply and turn off the water supply if your freeze has one to avoid leakage.
3. For drip trays which are located in the rear, you may have to carefully unscrew the back panel.
4. Now, carefully pull the back panel and keep it aside.
5. For drip trays located in front of the fridge, you may need to pop off the kick panel at the bottom of the fridge by sliding a putty knife.
6. After one side of the panel has been popped out, carefully pull out the whole kick panel and keep it aside.
7. If you see the drip tray, hold it with both hands and try to pull it out slowly. If, there are heating coils above drip tray, you cannot move it and you have to clean it while in its place.
8. Once, the drip tray is out, empty all the remaining water into sink drain and spray with leaching solution and allow it to sit there for 3 to 4 mintues.
9. Rinse drip tray under warm running water and clean it with scrub or paper towels to remove any remaining residue.
10. Wait for the dip dray to dry completely and then reinstall it again by sliding it back into the fridge.
