Keeping your Bosch cooker hood filters clean ensures efficient performance and helps maintain the air quality in your kitchen. Follow these easy steps on how to clean extractor fan filter to ensure they stay in top condition.

Important: Before cleaning, make sure the cooker hood is switched off and unplugged from the power supply.

Removing the Filters

Bosch cooker hoods typically come with grease filters and will also need a recirculation filter, if recirculating installation is preferred. The method for removing them may vary depending on your model, but here are general steps.

Grease Filters (Metal Mesh)

  • Slide or lift the filter out of its compartment.
  • Depending on your model, you may need to press a tab or use the handle to pull it out.

Recirculating Filters

  • These are typically used in recirculating hoods. If your Bosch hood has a recirculating filter, carefully detach it from the mounting slots.

We recommend to refer to your cooker hood’s user manual for specific details on filter removal.

Cleaning the Grease Filters (Metal Mesh)

Handwashing

  • In the sink, soak the grease filter in warm water with a mild detergent and a Degreaser.
  • Use a soft brush or sponge to scrub away any grease build-up.
  • Be sure to remove any stuck particles in the mesh.
  • For more stubborn burnt-on food and grease stains, we recommend using our tested and approved Degreaser.
  • Allow them to soak for approximately 10-15 minutes.
  • This soaking period will help to loosen any stubborn dirt and grease build-up.

Dishwashing

  • Some Bosch grease filters are dishwasher safe. Check your user manual to confirm if your filter is dishwasher safe and place it in the bottom of the dishwasher for an easy clean.

Rinsing the Filters

  • After cleaning, rinse the filters thoroughly under warm water to remove any remaining cleaning solution and loosened dirt. Gently shake off any excess water from the filters.

Drying the Filters

  • Place the filters on a clean towel or use a microfiber cloth to absorb additional moisture. Allow the filters to air dry completely before reattaching them to the cooker hood. Avoid using a hairdryer or direct heat sources to speed up the drying process, as it may damage the filter.

Reinstalling the Filters

  • Once the filter is dry, carefully reattach it to the cooker hood, ensuring it clicks or locks securely into place. For specific instructions on how to properly reinstall the filter, refer to your user manual.

Recirculating Filters

If your cooker hood uses a recirculating filter, it’s important to know that these cannot be cleaned or washed, as they are designed for one-time use. Instead, they need to be replaced periodically to maintain performance.
