Here are our top tips to throw a BBQ like a pro this ‘National Barbecue Week’ and beyond. With summer just around the corner, now is prime time to master your barbequing skills so you can bring the best food, atmosphere and hosting skills to the table.

Let’s get straight into it...

Perfectly charred, juicy meat

Rather than spending hours waiting for your BBQ to fire up and then evenly cook through any meat (charring, while also keeping the meat juicy can be a precarious task!) give it a blast in the oven first before transferring over to the barbeque for that gorgeously charred finish. The Series 8 oven is perfect for this. With its added steam function it is ideal if you want to go the extra mile by making your own hot dog buns or burger buns, and also roasts vegetables perfectly. They’ll be crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, perfect for mixed vegetables or homemade chips as sides. This also works well for your meat-free alternatives too!

Prep and plan

For those bigger parties–such as a summer BBQ or birthday celebration–you might need some additional storage capacity to prepare ahead.

Whether it’s for large party platters or marinating meat, bulk storing ahead of time or housing your pre-prepped salads, pastas and skewers, you need a heavy duty fridge freezer that can handle the load. The XXL fridge freezer almost infinite storage capacity (well, that’s what it sometimes feels like!). This appliance also features the spacious capacity, so you could store up to days in advance or freeze any leftovers ready for another BBQ the following week.

Delicious dips and sides

A large part of the BBQ food experience is the sides and dressings. A great homemade salad dressing, salsa, or a homemade hummus... the MaxoMixx hand blender is the perfect little kitchen helper. It can manage chunkier ingredients like avocado and chickpeas, and you can keep an eye on the consistency as you blend. Having dishwasher safe parts, it is incredibly easy to clean with minimal mess along the way.

Plan for the best, prepare for the worst

Unless you’re new to the UK, you’ll probably be aware that our summers are always a little...unpredictable.

In the event of bad weather or rain, make sure you have somewhere to transfer the party undercover. An outdoor gazebo is a great option to protect the BBQ process while still allowing you to cook outside, but having the option to move your dinners indoors is always a smart move too. Be sure to have enough storage space for the food, or the oven ready to keep the food warm, plus room in the fridge freezer for cans and drinks. This will free up space in the kitchen, so the party can go on no matter the weather!

The aftermath

The smoke from the BBQ can make its way into upholstery and curtains, even if the doors and windows are closed. Be sure to have your Bosch FreshUp ready for a reset anytime, anywhere, to give any fabrics (coats and jackets included) a little freshen up and remove any smokey, musty odours - without the need for tonnes of laundry!
